Guwahati: National Handicraft Week 2025 is set to spotlight the vibrant creativity of the North-East as the Office of the Development Commissioner (Handicrafts), North-Eastern Regional Office, Guwahati, under the Ministry of Textiles, Government of India, prepares to host a week-long celebration from December 8 to 14. The event will take place at the PWD Convention and Training Centre in Dispur, offering a dedicated platform to showcase the region’s diverse craft traditions.
The exhibition will bring together artisans from across the North-East, featuring an extensive range of handcrafted products including cane and bamboo items, handlooms, tribal artefacts and natural fibre creations. Through live demonstrations, exhibitions, seminars and interactive sessions, visitors will be able to engage directly with craftsmen and gain insight into the skills, heritage and sustainable practices that underpin the region’s craft industries.
The week-long celebration is an initiative to promote the livelihoods of artisans while encouraging a broader appreciation for handmade products.
