“Ride for Conservation” Flagged Off from Pobitora Wildlife Sanctuary

Guwahati: The final leg of Aaranyak’s “Ride for Conservation”—a bicycle rally to spread awareness on biodiversity conservation—was flagged off on Monday morning at Pobitora Wildlife Sanctuary (WLS) in Assam’s Morigaon district. The initiative marks the culmination of the premier biodiversity conservation organisation’s year-long 35th anniversary celebrations.

The rally was jointly flagged off by Morigaon Additional Superintendent of Police Dhruba Jyoti Nath and Pobitora Range Officer Pranjal Baruah, in the presence of Aaranyak’s Publicity Secretary Bijay Sankar Bora, PRO Gunajit Mazumdar, and forest staff of the sanctuary.

The cyclists in this concluding ride included Arif Hussain, Swapan Nath, Suraj Bawri, Diganta Kumar Das, Luson Prakash Gogoi, and several others. Speaking on the occasion, ASP Nath lauded Aaranyak’s efforts to raise mass awareness at a time when climate change and global warming pose grave threats. Range Officer Baruah echoed the sentiment, stressing the need for wider public participation in nature conservation.

Since its ceremonial flag-off at Orang National Park in March 2025, the rally has covered 15 wildlife protection areas across Assam, including national parks, sanctuaries, and reserve forests. Along the way, the conservationists engaged with schools, colleges, and communities to spread the message of biodiversity protection.
