Namsai Administration Issues Final Warning as Illegal Poppy Cultivation Triggers Full-Scale Crackdown

The Namsai District Administration and Police have delivered a final, uncompromising warning against illegal poppy cultivation after an extensive ground survey confirmed multiple locations involved in illicit plantation activities. The Anti-Drug Squad of Namsai Police, working alongside Chongkham Police, recently carried out a detailed inspection of suspected sites, verifying that several plots were either actively growing narcotic poppy crops or being prepared for cultivation.

Following the findings, authorities declared that stringent action is now inevitable. Officials announced that a full-scale enforcement drive will be launched across the district, stressing that no individual—cultivator or landowner—will be spared if found complicit. The administration stated that immediate arrests, destruction of illegal crops, and the strictest legal provisions will be invoked against violators.

“There will be no excuses, no negotiations, and no second chances,” officials warned, urging all individuals involved to cease illegal cultivation immediately.

The district administration also highlighted the significant socio-economic harm caused by narcotic activities and appealed to citizens to cooperate in combating the drug menace. Residents have been asked to support enforcement efforts and ensure full compliance with the directive to prevent further punitive action.
