Tezpur: Samagra Shiksha, Sonitpur district, organised a Teaching and Learning Material (TLM) Fair aimed at promoting joyful and activity-based learning among students. Notably, TLM is considered essential tools for effective classroom teaching that continue to play a vital role in strengthening numeracy and literacy skills at the foundational level.
The district-level exhibition and competition were held on Friday at the premises of Tezpur Academy Higher Secondary School. Eight teams representing the education blocks of Dhekiajuli, Gahpur, Naduar and Balipara took part in the event showcasing innovative and child-friendly learning materials designed to enhance comprehension in numeracy and literacy.The competition was assessed by a panel of three judges namely Dr. Runjun Kalita, faculty member of the District Institute of Education and Training (DIET), Tezpur Prasanna Mahanta, district coordinator of the First Foundation and Hemanta Sarma, CRC Coordinator of Behali block and based on their evaluation, six teams were declared winners.

FLN (Foundational Literacy and Numeracy) district programme officer Rina Medhi was present at the event along with key resource persons Dulal Das, Khirada Deka, Pranita Medhi, Mallika Dutta, CRC Coordinator Anup Nath, Sumi Dutta and Hiren Nath. Speaking on the theme “No Cost–Low Cost”, senior resource person from Dhekiajuli block, Dulal Das appreciated the efforts of participating teachers and emphasised how unused or discarded materials can be creatively transformed into engaging teaching-learning aids.The fair aimed not only to foster innovation among teachers but also to strengthen joyful learning practices across government schools in the district.
