Tezpur: In a major initiative to strengthen secondary education in remote and disadvantaged areas, Sonitpur District Commissioner Ananda Kumar Das has launched special free coaching camps to boost the academic performance of Class X students appearing for the High School Leaving Certificate (HSLC) examination. The programme is aimed at students from government schools located in interior parts of the district, where access to quality education is often hampered by poor connectivity, limited resources and an acute shortage of subject teachers.
After successfully introducing three such coaching camps earlier in some of the most remote pockets of Sonitpur, the District Commissioner on Friday formally inaugurated another camp exclusively for Bodo-medium Class X students. The newly launched camp has been set up at Chengeliamora Higher Secondary School, one of the remotest institutions under the Naduar constituency, and will also cater to students from nearby Bogijuli Higher Secondary School.
A total of 71 Bodo-medium students will benefit from the initiative, receiving focused coaching in Mathematics, General Science and English. The inaugural programme was attended by Assistant Commissioner Rajen Acharya, District Education Officer and Inspector of Schools (Sonitpur District Circle) Prabhat Das, SMDC President of Chengeliamora Higher Secondary School Jogeswar Das, representatives of the Balipara Boro Sahitya Sabha and the All Bodo Students’ Union, along with school heads, teachers and students.
Addressing the gathering, District Commissioner Das said the initiative aims to ensure that no student is deprived of quality education due to geographical or social constraints. He announced the engagement of three qualified Bodo-medium teachers and distributed free learning material kits to all students, urging them to prepare confidently for the HSLC examination.
