Union Minister Sonowal, MP Teli Safe After Convoy Vehicles Collide

Dibrugarh: Three vehicles in the convoy of Union Minister Sarbananda Sonowal and Rajya Sabha MP Rameswar Teli were involved in a collision on Sunday at the Hatiali Bypass in Chabua, Assam.

Sonowal, a former Chief Minister of Assam and currently the Union Minister for Ports, Shipping and Waterways, was travelling from Dibrugarh to his ancestral village of Bindhakata when the incident occurred. Rajya Sabha MP Rameswar Teli, who represents Assam in the Upper House of Parliament, was accompanying him in the convoy.

According to local authorities, all occupants of the three vehicles escaped unhurt. Emergency services and police personnel reached the spot soon after the incident, but no injuries were reported and no hospitalisation was required. The exact cause of the collision is yet to be ascertained. Police have not confirmed whether any other vehicles were involved or what led to the accident on the busy bypass road.

The incident resulted in a temporary disruption of traffic along the Hatiali Bypass, a key route in the Chabua area of Dibrugarh district, before normal movement was restored. Further details are awaited as investigations continue.
