A late-night dispute during a drinking session in a high-end apartment in Greater Noida ended in tragedy on Sunday, January 4, with a South Korean national losing his life and his live-in partner being taken into police custody on charges of murder.
The deceased has been identified as Duck Jee Yuh, a South Korean citizen who worked as a branch manager with a well-known mobile phone company. He was rushed to the Government Institute of Medical Sciences (GIMS) Hospital with multiple stab injuries but was declared dead on arrival. Hospital authorities immediately informed the police, prompting an investigation.
Police said the victim was brought to the hospital by his live-in partner, Lunjeana Pamai, a native of Thangal in Manipur. During questioning, Pamai allegedly admitted to stabbing Yuh following a heated argument. According to investigators, the couple had been living together for nearly two years, and the incident occurred while they were consuming alcohol late at night.
Preliminary findings suggest that an argument escalated into a physical confrontation, during which Pamai allegedly stabbed Yuh in the chest. “In a moment of extreme anger during the altercation, the accused inflicted fatal injuries on the victim,” a police officer said.
Despite her attempt to save him by rushing him to the hospital, Yuh succumbed to his injuries before doctors could intervene. A case has been registered at Knowledge Park Police Station. In an official statement, police confirmed that Pamai has been arrested and that further investigation is underway.
Investigators have also indicated that the couple’s relationship was troubled. There are allegations that Yuh frequently consumed alcohol and was physically abusive, leading to repeated conflicts between them. Pamai has reportedly claimed that she did not intend to kill him and that the stabbing happened in the heat of the moment.
Police said her claims are being carefully examined as part of the ongoing probe. Pamai remains in custody, and further legal action will depend on the outcome of the investigation.
