Chirang: A vibrant cultural procession and Bhagwat yatra marked the second day of the silver jubilee celebrations of the Srimanta Sankardev Sangha, Kokrajhar–Chirang district branch, drawing large participation and public admiration. Addressing the public meeting, BTC Chief Executive Member Hagrama Mohilary said the ideals of Mahapurush Srimanta Sankardev continue to guide social harmony and inclusive development. “Sankardev’s philosophy is not limited to Assam alone. We are living by his ideals and wish to work for the development of all castes and communities, strengthening peace and unity in the BTC,” he said.
Highlighting developmental initiatives, Mohilary announced that the BTC government has proposed allocations of Rs 30 crore for Sudhakantha Dr Bhupen Hazarika Park, Rs 20 crore for Chilarai Park, and Rs 20–25 crore for a park in the name of Zubin Garg at Kokrajhar.

The meeting was presided over by Ashok Kumar Bhakat Bap, president of the Silver Jubilee Celebration Committee. Senior Sangha leader Bhavendra Nath Deka Bap and Kushal Thakuria, General Secretary of Srimanta Sankardev Sangha, spoke on unity among diverse castes and tribes.
The occasion also witnessed the release of a book by Kokrajhar College lecturer Dr Nirmali Das. The colourful procession showcased Sankari culture along with the rich arts and crafts of Koch Rajbangshi, Bodo, Rabha, Chaotali and other communities, leaving spectators deeply impressed.
