With the Special Revision of electoral rolls entering its final phase, the Assam Chief Electoral Officer has urged all eligible voters to complete pending applications without delay, as January 22, 2026, has been fixed as the last date for submitting claims, objections and corrections. The appeal was issued through an official notification released on January 18.
The ongoing Special Revision is being conducted in line with the Election Commission of India’s notification dated November 17, 2025. Under the process, citizens can apply for new voter registration, seek deletion of names, request corrections in existing entries or report a change of residence within their constituency, provided the applications are submitted within the stipulated timeline.
For new enrolment, eligible voters are required to submit Form 6, while objections or requests for deletion of names must be made through Form 7. Corrections in personal details or changes in address within the same constituency can be filed using Form 8. The CEO’s office has reiterated that all forms must be submitted on or before January 22, 2026, to be considered during the revision.
Voters have been given multiple options to submit applications. Forms can be filed offline through Booth Level Officers at designated polling stations or by approaching the Electoral Registration Officer or Assistant Electoral Registration Officer. Online submissions are also available through the ECINET mobile application and the official website voters.eci.gov.in, making the process more accessible.
The notification also clarified that there is no legal limit on the number of Form 7 applications an elector may file in their constituency, as long as the objections are in accordance with the law. Citizens have been encouraged to carefully check their names in the draft electoral rolls and immediately initiate corrective steps if any discrepancies are found.
Reiterating the importance of the exercise, the CEO’s office appealed to the public to ensure that every eligible voter is properly enrolled before the deadline. For further guidance, voters can contact their local Booth Level Officer or seek assistance through the toll-free helpline number 1950.
