PM Modi Greets Meghalaya on 54th Statehood Day, Praises Culture and Contribution to Nation

Shillong, Jan 21: Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Wednesday, January 21, extended warm greetings to the people of Meghalaya on the occasion of the state’s 54th Statehood Day, applauding its rich cultural heritage, natural beauty and growing contribution to India’s national development.

In a message shared on social media platform X, the Prime Minister highlighted Meghalaya’s vibrant traditions and scenic landscapes, noting that the state has earned admiration across the country for both its cultural depth and developmental progress. Expressing confidence in its future, Modi said the people of Meghalaya have played an important role in strengthening the nation and wished the state continued success in the years ahead.

“I convey my heartfelt greetings to the people of Meghalaya on their Statehood Day. The people of Meghalaya have made strong contributions to the development of our nation. The state’s cultural vibrancy and scenic beauty are widely admired. May Meghalaya continue to scale new heights of development in the future,” the Prime Minister wrote.

Meghalaya attained full statehood on January 21, 1972, and over the past five decades has developed a distinct identity rooted in indigenous customs, ecological richness and community-oriented governance. The anniversary marks an important milestone in the state’s journey within the Indian Union.

Chief Minister Conrad K. Sangma also extended greetings to the people of Meghalaya, recalling the vision and sacrifices of those who laid the foundation of the state. In his message on X, Sangma emphasised the values and resilience that continue to guide Meghalaya’s path.

“On the 54th Statehood Day of Meghalaya, I extend my warm greetings to the people of our beautiful state. May this occasion remind us of the vision, values, and indomitable spirit of our forefathers who shaped our state, and inspire us to continue working together in harmony for lasting peace and progress,” the Chief Minister said.

The Chief Minister’s message was accompanied by a visual tribute celebrating Meghalaya’s cultural diversity, reflecting a sense of pride and collective aspiration as the state moves forward with renewed focus on inclusive growth and sustainable development.
