Guwahati: The Fight Against Injustice of APSC, a forum spearheading a campaign against alleged irregularities in the 2013 Assam Public Service Commission (APSC) Combined Competitive Examination (CCE), has petitioned the Special Investigation Team (SIT) to expand its probe into the multi-crore cash-for-job scam. In a detailed representation submitted to Additional DGP (CID) Munna Prasad Gupta, who heads the SIT, the forum, led by Manash Pratim Baruah, alleged that despite the findings of the Justice (Retd.) B.K. Sharma Inquiry Commission, several beneficiaries and perpetrators continue to hold senior administrative positions while remaining outside the ambit of investigation.
The forum claimed that although many individuals have been charge-sheeted, a number of officers with “dubious backgrounds” are still in service. It was specifically named Mitali Lahkar (ACS) and Nayanmoni Barman (APS) in connection with the “missing answer scripts” controversy. Other officials mentioned as allegedly remaining uninvestigated include Abhijnan Nath, Mukul Chetia, Sneha Deka, Minerva Devi Arambam (ACS) and Birbal Brahma.

A significant portion of the complaint focuses on siblings and spouses selected in the same examinations. The forum pointed out that in several cases one individual has been arrested or suspended, while the related candidate continues uninvestigated. It listed multiple such pairs and demanded parity in investigation. Serious questions were also raised over the selection of Minerva Devi Arambam, daughter of an accused former Principal Controller of Examinations, and Ajit Kalita (ACS), son-in-law of an accused Assistant Controller. The forum alleged possible prior access to question papers in some cases.
The petition further sought scrutiny of names appearing on nine loose tabulation sheets seized from the residence of former APSC chairman Rakesh Kumar Paul, naming several ACS, APS and allied service officers. Citing recent corruption and criminal cases involving some officers, the forum argued that tainted selections continue to erode public trust. The group also demanded a probe into contractor Gopal Ch. Bora, from whose residence blank answer scripts were recovered, alleged links to the former APSC chairman.
