PM Modi to Visit Assam on February 14, Inaugurate Bridge and Address BJP Workers

Guwahati, Jan 25: Prime Minister Narendra Modi will undertake a day-long visit to Assam on February 14, during which he will inaugurate multiple development projects and address Bharatiya Janata Party workers, Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma said on January 25.

Speaking to reporters on the sidelines of a party programme in Guwahati, Sarma said this would be Modi’s third visit to the poll-bound state in the last three months. The Prime Minister will first inaugurate the Kumar Bhaskarvarman Setu over the Brahmaputra, linking Guwahati with North Guwahati. At the same venue, he will also inaugurate the temporary campus of the Indian Institute of Management, Guwahati, and hand over 100 electric buses provided by the Centre to the Assam government.

The Chief Minister clarified that no public meeting would be held during the inaugural programme.

Later in the day, Modi will address a meeting of BJP party functionaries at Khanapara field in Guwahati. Sarma said three party workers from each of the state’s 25,000 booths would attend the meeting.

He added that there was a possibility of the Prime Minister visiting Dibrugarh as part of the tour, though the schedule had not yet been finalised. The detailed itinerary is expected to be confirmed within the next four to five days.
