Guwahati: Several personnel from the Assam Police, Fire Service, and Home Guard and Civil Defence have been selected for prestigious national honours on the occasion of Republic Day, 2026, recognising their dedication and service to public safety. According to an official statement, Inspector General of Police Imdadul Hussain Bora has been awarded the President’s Medal for Distinguished Service (PSM) for his exemplary contribution to the force. From the Home Guard and Civil Defence wing, Platoon Commander Samiran Dey Purkayastha has also been selected for the PSM.
The Medal for Meritorious Service (MSM) has been conferred on a number of officers and personnel for their committed and commendable service. The police awardees include Superintendents of Police Pranab Jyoti Goswami, Dr Sadeque Ali Ahmed, Ripul Das, Nabaneet Mahanta and Saurav Jyoti Saikia, along with Deputy Superintendent of Police Anil Moran. Inspectors, sub-inspectors and other ranks from the force have also been honoured.

From the Fire Service, Sub Officer Bhuban Chandra Mali and Leading Fireman Nandeswar Das received the MSM, while Deputy Controller Jaleswar Deka and Platoon Commander Chakradhar Barman were honoured from the Home Guard and Civil Defence. The awards acknowledge outstanding service in maintaining law and order, disaster response, and internal security across Assam.
