Shillong, Jan 27: Prime Minister Narendra Modi on January 27 conveyed birthday greetings to Meghalaya Chief Minister Conrad K Sangma, commending his dedication and efforts towards fulfilling the aspirations of the people of the hill state.

In a message shared on social media platform X, the Prime Minister described Sangma’s work as noteworthy and prayed for his long life and good health. Responding to the message, Sangma expressed his gratitude, thanking the Prime Minister for his blessings and wishing him well in return.

Birthday wishes for the Meghalaya Chief Minister also came from several other political leaders across the country. Maharashtra Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis wished Sangma good health and longevity, while Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma praised his leadership, stating that Meghalaya has been progressing steadily under his guidance and vision.

The exchange of greetings highlighted Sangma’s rising prominence on the national political stage. The NPP secured 26 seats in the 60-member Assembly and went on to form the government with the support of alliance partners, taking the coalition strength to 45 MLAs, including two from the BJP. Prestone Tynsong and Sniawbhalang Dhar were inducted as Deputy Chief Ministers.

Sangma represents the South Tura constituency, which he retained by a margin of 5,016 votes over BJP candidate Bernard N Marak, as per figures released by the Election Commission of India.
