Manipur Security Tightened as Forces Intensify Search Operations, Secure Supply Routes

Imphal, Jan 28: Security forces intensified vigil across Manipur as coordinated search operations and area domination exercises were carried out in fringe and vulnerable areas across multiple districts, officials said. The measures were aimed at maintaining law and order and ensuring the security of key supply routes in the state.

As part of the heightened deployment, a total of 117 nakas and checkpoints were set up across both hill and valley districts. Officials said extensive checking was undertaken during the operations, though no individuals were detained, indicating that the exercise was primarily preventive in nature.

Parallel efforts were made to safeguard the movement of essential commodities. Authorities ensured the smooth passage of 129 vehicles carrying essential supplies along National Highway-37, with strict security arrangements enforced at all sensitive and vulnerable locations. Armed security convoys were provided along critical stretches to guarantee the safe and uninterrupted movement of goods.

Security officials said the sustained presence of forces and continuous monitoring were intended to deter potential threats, reassure the public and restore normalcy. They added that such operations would continue as part of a broader strategy to stabilise the situation and ensure the free flow of essential supplies across Manipur.
