Ajit Pawar Injured as Aircraft Crashes During Landing Near Baramati

National, Jan 28: An aircraft carrying NCP leader and Maharashtra Deputy Chief Minister Ajit Pawar met with an accident on Wednesday morning, January 28, while attempting to land near Baramati, preliminary reports said.

Pawar, 66, sustained injuries in the incident and was rushed to a hospital for medical treatment. He was travelling to Baramati to attend a public rally in connection with the Zilla Parishad elections when the accident occurred.

Officials said the exact cause of the mishap and the extent of damage to the aircraft were yet to be ascertained. Details regarding the deputy chief minister’s condition were also awaited at the time of reporting.

A day earlier, Pawar had been in Mumbai, where he attended a meeting of the Maharashtra Cabinet Committee on Infrastructure chaired by Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis.

Authorities said assessments were underway and further information would be shared once verified, adding that the situation was being closely monitored as it continued to develop.
