Nagaon: In a meeting with local media personnel at Rishiraj Hotel, Nagaon MLA Rupak Sarma highlighted the development initiatives undertaken in Nagaon-Batadrova constituency over the past five years. He announced plans to hold a public meeting at Khagen Mahanta auditorium soon, where he will present an account of the development works during his tenure as local MLA. Sarma also revealed that the Assam government has sanctioned Rs 17 crore 39 lakh 540 thousands for various development projects in Nagaon town under the 15th Finance Commission. The projects include construction of roads, drains, and toilets in different wards of Nagaon Municipal Board.
The MLA inaugurated six roads rebuilt by the Public Works Department and announced the upcoming unveiling of a statue of Rupkonwar Jyotish Prasad Agarwala at Rupkonwar Chowk in Nagaon town. Sarma expressed satisfaction that Nagaon town was cited as an example of a clean city in PM Narendra Modi’s ‘Mann Ki Baat’ programme and thanked the Nagaon Municipal Board’s sanitation workers for their efforts. The event was attended by Nagaon Municipal Board Chairperson Ambika Majumdar, Vice Chairperson Simanta Bora, and over 100 media personnel from different media houses.
