Itanagar, Feb 3: Arunachal Pradesh has added another feather to its sporting cap with the appointment of Dr. Tasen Leya as physiotherapist of the Rajasthan United Football Club Academy, an I-League First Division side. The development marks a significant milestone, making Dr. Leya the second physiotherapist from the state to be associated with an I-League club and the first from the Tagin community of Upper Subansiri district to reach this level in Indian professional football.
Dr. Leya’s journey in sports physiotherapy began at the grassroots with Zero One FC, which competed in the Model Super League in Naharlagun. His early exposure at the local level helped him build practical experience before he moved on to Monyul FC, one of Arunachal Pradesh’s prominent professional football clubs.
At Monyul FC, he served across various competitive tiers and played a key role in district and state-level tournaments. His work included representing Upper Subansiri district during zonal rounds and supporting the Lower Subansiri District Football Association in the final stages of the Tadar Tang State Level Football Tournament. He also contributed as physiotherapist for Rehbla Gangsen FC during the Monyul Super League held in Tawang.
Dr. Leya’s experience extended to the national stage when he represented Arunachal Pradesh in the Santosh Trophy, India’s premier domestic football competition. He was also part of the successful Monyul FC squad in Tawang and supported the team during its campaign in the Professional League of Arunachal Pradesh.
His steady progression through grassroots, district, state and national competitions has earned him widespread appreciation within the football community, with players and coaches acknowledging his professionalism and clinical expertise. The appointment is being celebrated as a proud moment for Arunachal Pradesh, Upper Subansiri district and the Tagin community, and is expected to encourage more young professionals from the region to pursue careers in sports medicine.
