A Month On, Assam Still Mourns Zubeen Garg as Garima Saikia Garg Shares Heartfelt Tribute

Guwahati: A month has passed since the untimely demise of Assam’s most beloved voice and musical legend, Zubeen Garg, yet the void he left behind continues to resonate through every heart, home, and melody across the state. For his wife, Garima Saikia Garg, the journey through loss has become one of deep emotion and spiritual connection.

Garima, in an emotional social media post, penned a soul-stirring message in memory of her late husband, writing, “You are here… you will always be here. This is not just imagination; it is a bond of souls that flows beyond lifetimes. You will speak for me… you will light the path and guide my steps, I know you will. My divine man… I know you will always protect me.”

Across Assam, tributes continue to pour in as people from all walks of life honour the man whose songs became an inseparable part of their lives. Candlelight vigils, naam-prasangas, and memorial gatherings are being held across the state, echoing with the melodies that once defined Zubeen’s unmatched artistry.

On Sunday, October 19, Zubeen Kshetra in Sonapur turned into a sanctuary of remembrance as hundreds gathered for a special month-long shraddha ceremony, supported by residents of Dimoria. The day began with Gita Path, followed by Sarva Dharma Prarthana and naam-prasanga—a reflection of the secular spirit and harmony that Zubeen himself championed through his music and life.

While the official investigation into his death continues, for the people of Assam, what endures is Zubeen’s eternal presence—his voice, his vision, and the undying love Garima continues to nurture for him.

In grief, Assam has found grace. In silence, it hears his song. And in every heart that beats to the rhythm of his melodies, there remains a timeless truth—legends never truly die; they live on in the echoes of their art.
