Itanagar, Dec 28: The All Arunachal Pradesh Students’ Union has formally moved into a transition phase following the dissolution of its Central Executive Body for the 2022–2025 term. The development was announced through a Presidential Ordinance (Extraordinary) issued on December 28, marking the end of the constitutional tenure of the outgoing council and bringing its authority to an immediate close.
AAPSU President Dozi Tana Tara stated in the ordinance that the expiry of the council’s term made the dissolution necessary. Exercising powers under Articles 13 and 20 of the AAPSU Constitution, the order transfers all executive and administrative responsibilities to a caretaker arrangement to ensure uninterrupted functioning of the apex students’ body and to facilitate a smooth electoral process.
Under the interim arrangement, Dozi Tana Tara will continue in the role of Caretaker President, while Ritum Tali has been appointed as Caretaker General Secretary. With the ordinance coming into effect, all posts held by members of the 2022–2025 executive body stand vacated, and the caretaker administration will now oversee day-to-day affairs of the union.
The ordinance clearly outlines that the caretaker body will also be responsible for conducting the AAPSU General Election, which must be convened and completed on or before February 20, 2026. While the timeline has been fixed, the detailed election schedule, including the constitution of the Election Authority and other procedural arrangements, will be notified separately.
Appealing for unity during the transition, the AAPSU President called upon all affiliated units, including District Students’ Unions, Branch Students’ Unions and Community-Based Students’ Unions, to extend full cooperation to the caretaker authority and the election machinery. The ordinance further clarifies that any action contrary to its provisions will be treated as unconstitutional, and the caretaker arrangement will remain in place until a newly elected executive body formally assumes charge.
