AARSA Urges Assam CM to Advertise Vacant Assistant Professor Posts

Guwahati: The All Assam Research Scholars’ Association (AARSA) has written an open letter to Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma, urging the state government to immediately release advertisements for vacant Assistant Professor posts in government and provincialised colleges across Assam.

In its letter, AARSA expressed deep concern over the prolonged delay in recruitment, noting that no advertisements for these posts have been issued for more than a year. The association warned that this inaction has led to a mounting crisis within the state’s higher education system, affecting both institutions and aspiring educators.

The association pointed out that the shortage of permanent teaching staff has forced many colleges to depend heavily on guest faculties, compromising the stability and quality of education. Simultaneously, the delay has exacerbated unemployment among qualified candidates, leaving many research scholars uncertain about their professional future. AARSA also raised the issue of age-related job insecurity, stressing that many aspirants are nearing the upper age limit for eligibility, making the situation even more urgent.

The open letter emphasised that timely recruitment of faculty is essential for ensuring the smooth functioning of academic institutions and for protecting the future of thousands of deserving candidates across the state. The association appealed to the Chief Minister to take prompt and decisive action to address what it described as a growing crisis in Assam’s higher education sector.

The letter was officially signed by Devasish Hazarika, President of AARSA, and Shruti Smriti Dutta, General Secretary. A copy of the open letter addressed to the Chief Minister was enclosed with the submission, underscoring the association’s commitment to securing immediate attention to this pressing issue.
