Abducted youth beaten and thrown into Gangadhar River in Tamarhat

Tamarhat: A sensational incident has come to light from Kumarganj under Tamarhat Police Station in Dhubri district. A youth, who was earlier thought to be a dead body floating in the Gangadhar River, turned out to be alive. According to reports, Shyamal Prodhani, a youth from Bhangaduli village under Agomani Police Station in Dhubri district, had gone to Dhubri town on October 16 to purchase a motorcycle worth 1,81,000. There, he met his relative and brother-in-law, Babul Roy. Babul convinced Shyamal not to buy the motorcycle from Dhubri, saying that it would be cheaper in Gauripur. Babul then took Shyamal to Gauripur, and later, claiming that prices were even lower in Rupshi, took him there.

However, the cunning Babul, along with two other youths, abducted Shyamal from Rupshi and took him deep inside the isolated Alokjhari hills. There, they brutally beat him, tied his hands and legs, and left him in the jungle after snatching his 1,81,000 in cash and a gold chain.Three days later, on October 19, two other youths who went into the jungle found Shyamal alive, though his hands and legs were still tied. They untied him and told him they would take him home. But instead, they led him to the banks of the Gangadhar River and, after subjecting him to further brutal assault, assumed he had died and threw him into the river.
