Silchar: The Akhil Bharatiya Vidyarthi Parishad (ABVP) has registered a resounding victory in the Assam University Students’ Union Election 2025, winning all six key posts and marking a historic clean sweep in the university’s electoral history.
Leading the winning panel, Rajkinkar Chakrabarty was elected President with 1,544 votes, defeating his nearest rival by 232 votes. Kaushik Das Gupta claimed the General Secretary position with 1,628 votes—the highest tally in the election—winning by a margin of 411 votes.
For the Assistant General Secretary (Male) post, Arpan Chakraborty secured victory with 934 votes, while Mimangsha Koiri won the Assistant General Secretary (Female) position with 1,370 votes, edging past her opponent by 37 votes.
In cultural and extracurricular categories, Arup Das won the Magazine Secretary post with 1,542 votes, recording the largest victory margin of 525 votes, and Samar Kant emerged victorious as Sports Secretary with 1,418 votes, leading by 61 votes.
University officials confirmed that the elections were conducted peacefully with a high voter turnout. The results, declared late in the evening, sparked jubilant celebrations among ABVP supporters, reaffirming the organisation’s strong influence in Assam University’s student politics.
