A’chik SCO Rongjeng End Meghalaya State League Campaign With Stunning Comeback Victory

Shillong, May 8: A’chik SCO Rongjeng signed off from the 5th Meghalaya State League with a dramatic 3-2 comeback victory over Balmanduri FC in a Group G encounter at Williamnagar on May 7, ending their campaign on a winning note despite failing to qualify for the knockout stage.

Balmanduri FC dominated the first half, with Chichang M Momin scoring in the 27th and 33rd minutes to hand his side a comfortable lead and leave ASCOR struggling to recover.

The momentum shifted after the break when ASCOR captain Sensial Sangma reduced the deficit in the 54th minute. The comeback gathered pace as Klubarth M Sangma found the equaliser in the 78th minute before Keri G Momin struck in the 88th minute to complete the turnaround.

ASCOR concluded their Group G campaign in third place with four victories and four defeats from eight matches. Keri G Momin emerged as one of the standout performers of the league, scoring 13 goals during the season, second only to the competition’s leading scorer.

In Group E, Iatyllilang Lumsehkot CSC defeated Lamyrsiang SCC 3-0 at Wahiajer. Both teams had already secured third and fourth positions respectively before the match.

Balmanduri FC still have one fixture remaining and will take on group leaders Janepih YSCA in two days.

Attention now shifts to two important fixtures scheduled for Saturday at 3 pm. In Group E, Lumphyrnai Sohphoh FC will face Shillong Lajong FC at Wahiajer, with both teams already through to the pre-quarterfinals.

Meanwhile, in Group F at Mairang, Lawbah SC will take on Mishon SSCC in a rescheduled fixture originally slated for April 27. Lawbah SC require a commanding victory to overtake Mishon SSCC and secure second place in the group.
