Guwahati, Feb 21: An additional First Level Checking (FLC) of Electronic Voting Machines (EVMs) and Voter Verifiable Paper Audit Trail (VVPAT) units will be conducted in Assam’s Baksa district on February 24, 2026, as part of preparations carried out under the supervision of election authorities.
The exercise is scheduled to take place from 9:00 AM to 7:00 PM at the FLC Hall of the EVM-VVPAT Warehouse located within the office campus of the District Election Officer in Baksa. The process is being undertaken in line with directives issued by the Election Commission of India and under the guidance of the Chief Electoral Officer, Assam.
According to officials, the additional verification will cover machines allocated to the 41-Manas and 42-Baksa (ST) Legislative Assembly constituencies. Engineers from Electronics Corporation of India Limited (ECIL), Hyderabad, along with trained technical staff, will carry out the procedures. The process involves a detailed physical inspection and cleaning of the units, erasure of previously stored data, functional testing and the conduct of mock polls to confirm operational accuracy.
In total, 10 Ballot Units (BU), 140 Control Units (CU) and 10 VVPAT machines will undergo inspection during the additional FLC. Authorities stated that representatives of recognised National and State political parties will remain present throughout the exercise to ensure transparency. The entire checking process will be webcast live and monitored by both the Election Commission of India and the Chief Electoral Officer, Assam.
