Adil Hussain Named Festival Ambassador for Arunachal Rang Mahotsav 2025

Itanagar: National award-winning actor and theatre luminary Adil Hussain will serve as the Festival Ambassador for Arunachal Rang Mahotsav 2025, bringing his decades of experience in theatre and cinema to the state’s most anticipated celebration of performing arts.

Hailing from Goalpara, Assam, Hussain’s artistic journey has taken him from the vibrant stages of regional theatre to internationally acclaimed films such as Ishqiya, English Vinglish, Lootera, and Mukti Bhawan. His global repertoire includes celebrated works like Life of Pi, The Reluctant Fundamentalist, and What Will People Say, earning him admiration for his nuanced, deeply human performances.

Hussain’s craft has been recognised at some of the world’s leading film festivals — Venice, Toronto, and Berlin. He received a Special Mention at the National Film Awards for Mukti Bhawan and the Best Actor Award at the Nordic International Film Festival in New York for his Assamese feature Maj Rati Keteki.

Beyond acting, Hussain champions “conscious cinema” — films that provoke thought and empathy — and continues to shape the next generation of performers as a teacher at the National School of Drama, FTII Pune, and the Royal Conservatory of Performing Arts in Bhutan.

As the ambassador for Arunachal Rang Mahotsav 2025, Hussain embodies the festival’s vision of celebrating the rich theatre traditions of the Northeast while embracing a global sensibility. His leadership is expected to inspire collaborations that bridge culture, language, and artistic expression.

With Adil Hussain at its forefront, the festival promises to be a soulful convergence of art and identity, celebrating stories that are both rooted in local heritage and resonant with universal emotion.
