
Karbi Anglong: An emergency peace meeting was held recently at the Circuit House, Diphu, in connection with the incident of a missing person reported on August 30 in the Manja area. The meeting was chaired by Nirola Phangchopi, ACS, District Commissioner of Karbi Anglong. Senior Superintendent of Police Sanjib Kr. Saikia, Additional District Commissioner, Assistant Commissioner, Utpal Dimasa, DIPRO, KAAC representatives, and leaders of the two community organisations were present. District Commissioner Phangchopi appealed to all community organisations to maintain peace and harmony, stating that cooperation between communities, administration, and police is vital to resolving the matter. She also assured a fair and thorough investigation while requesting participants to avoid third-party interference. Community leaders expressed their support for the district administration and agreed that outside elements should not be allowed to disturb unity in the district. They pledged their cooperation to maintain peace. SSP Saikia informed that a case was registered on the very day of the incident, and five suspects are in custody. He further said that 25–30 personnel are engaged in continuous search operations to trace the missing person. He urged people not to spread rumours or make provocative statements on social media, stressing that external influences would not be allowed to affect local peace. The meeting ended with a collective commitment to protect harmony and progress in Karbi Anglong. The District Commissioner reiterated that the administration remains open to address concerns directly from the people.
