Duliajan, June 23: Assam Gas Company Limited (AGCL) formally welcomed its newly appointed Chairman, Bolin Chetia, at a meeting held at the company’s corporate headquarters in Duliajan on June 19, marking a new phase for the organisation as it prepares for future expansion amid challenges confronting the energy sector.

The programme was attended by Vice Chairman Indra Gogoi, Independent Director Dhiren Handique, Managing Director Gokul Chandra Swargiyari, Chief General Manager (Technical), senior officials and employees.

The meeting began with a welcome address by the Chief Manager of Human Resources and Administration, who recalled Chetia’s earlier association with the company and acknowledged his contributions to AGCL over the years. He said the chairman had consistently guided the organisation whenever support was required.

Managing Director Gokul Chandra Swargiyari congratulated Chetia and outlined the current operational status of the company. He also presented AGCL’s expansion plans and sought the chairman’s support in implementing them for the overall growth of the organisation. Vice Chairman Indra Gogoi and Independent Director Dhiren Handique also extended their best wishes to the newly appointed chairman.

In his address, Chetia expressed happiness at returning to lead the company’s board. He informed the gathering that, for the first time, the Chief Minister had assigned an Officer on Special Duty of Assam Civil Service rank to work with the chairman’s office to facilitate the company’s development initiatives.

Referring to prevailing conditions in the energy sector, Chetia highlighted the challenges posed by the global shortage of natural gas arising from geopolitical conflicts, rising gas prices and the increasing shift of tea industries towards alternative fuel sources. He assured the management of his full support for the company’s future expansion programmes.

The chairman also urged employees and officials to maintain unity and approach higher authorities on issues that would benefit the organisation. He called on the workforce to work collectively towards building a stronger and more resilient future for AGCL.

The programme concluded with a vote of thanks delivered by the Manager (HR&A), followed by an interaction with employees.
