Duliajan, August 19: Artificial intelligence and its potential to strengthen the use of Hindi in official work were the focus of a one-day workshop organised by the Assam Gas Based Power Station (AGBPS) of NEEPCO Limited at Bokuloni on August 14.
The workshop was organised under the aegis of the Town Official Language Implementation Committee (TOLIC), Duliajan, chaired by Oil India Limited’s FHQ, Duliajan. It was inaugurated by Opang Ering, Plant Head and Chief General Manager (Technical), NEEPCO.
Devanand Das, Assistant Director (Implementation), Department of Official Language, Guwahati, was the expert at the workshop. The programme examined how AI tools could support the implementation and wider use of Hindi in official and institutional communication.
A total of 23 participants attended, including 11 from NEEPCO and 12 from TOLIC member organisations such as Oil India Limited, BVFCL Namrup, Canara Bank Duliajan, State Bank of India Duliajan, CISF Oil-Duliajan, the Income Tax Department and Kendriya Vidyalaya Namrup.
Ering urged participants to apply the knowledge gained during the workshop in their official duties and encourage colleagues to use Hindi more widely. He also stressed the need to explore AI’s potential in promoting the official language.
The programme concluded with a vote of thanks by Sonam Pawar, Executive Trainee (HR), and Tarun Kumar, Senior Hindi Supervisor.
