Air Cargo Services Resume at Donyi Polo Airport, Boosting Arunachal’s Trade Connectivity

Itanagar: Air cargo operations have officially resumed at Donyi Polo Airport in Itanagar, marking a major relief for traders, MSMEs, and exporters across Arunachal Pradesh.

The services, which were temporarily suspended following the relocation of flight operations to the airport’s newly inaugurated terminal building, have now been reinstated after receiving approval from the Bureau of Civil Aviation Security (BCAS).

In a statement issued on Tuesday, the office of Civil Aviation Minister Balo Raja confirmed that the BCAS Regional Director has granted clearance for the resumption of cargo handling. The directive has been communicated to both the Airport Director and IndiGo Services Manager, enabling operations to restart immediately.

The suspension had created logistical hurdles for several state departments and local enterprises, particularly the Department of Trade and Commerce, which had raised concerns over the delay in dispatching consignments for the India International Trade Fair (IITF) 2025 in New Delhi, scheduled from November 14 to 27.

Acting swiftly, Minister Balo Raja intervened by writing to airport authorities, emphasizing the urgency of restoring cargo services. His efforts resulted in prompt action from the BCAS, leading to the official resumption of operations.

Donyi Polo Airport Director P. Narendra confirmed that IndiGo Airlines has completed all necessary arrangements to facilitate immediate cargo movement.

The reinstatement of air cargo services is expected to enhance trade connectivity, streamline logistics, and support timely export of goods from Arunachal Pradesh — reinforcing the state’s growing integration with national and international markets.
