Bajali: In a move to promote environmental awareness and climate education among students, an Air Quality Monitoring System has been installed at Bajali Higher Secondary School in Pathsala. The system was installed by the Bajali District Administration in collaboration with the Assam Forest Department. Officials said the device will measure key air quality indicators and provide real-time data on pollution levels in the area.
The monitoring system will track parameters such as PM2.5, PM10, carbon dioxide and other gases, enabling students to observe and understand local air pollution trends while encouraging greater responsibility toward environmental protection. The installation programme was attended by Mridul Kumar Das, Anjan Sarma, environmental activist Ananda Khataniyar, T. C. Ranjith Ram and school principal Ranjan Chakraborty.

During the programme, a book titled Everyday Climate Action was also released. Speakers highlighted that installing such systems in educational institutions will not only help monitor environmental conditions but also inspire students to actively participate in climate protection efforts. Teachers and students welcomed the initiative, stating that the monitoring system would support environmental education, research and awareness in the district.
