Guwahati (Assam), March 10: AIUDF president Badruddin Ajmal launched a sharp attack on the Indian National Congress, alleging that the party was indirectly aiding the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) in its bid to return to power in Assam.
Speaking to reporters, Ajmal said his party’s primary goal is to remove the BJP from power, but accused Congress of weakening the opposition space. “Our goal is to remove the BJP from power, but the Congress is helping them come back to power again,” he said.
He further claimed that several Congress legislators had switched sides and joined the BJP, highlighting the party’s inability to effectively challenge the ruling party. “Eight Congress MLAs have joined the BJP so far. Congress is the A team of the BJP,” Ajmal alleged.
The remarks come amid intensifying political exchanges ahead of the upcoming Assam Assembly elections, with opposition parties trading accusations over their roles in countering the BJP.
