Duliajan: Noted educationist Ajit Borah and nature conservationist Nabin Baruah were honoured as the ‘Man of the Year’ by Sahityarathi Jatiya Vidyalaya during its annual cultural evening on Saturday.
Former principal of Ushapur Higher Secondary School, Borah received the Ananda Bhattacharya and Premalata Devi Memorial Award for his outstanding contribution to education. Under his leadership, Ushapur HSS evolved into a model institution of the state. “The award testifies to his dedication and effort in transforming a rural school into a centre of excellence,” said Ajay Bhattacharya, litterateur and family member of the memorial award.
Environmentalist Nabin Baruah was conferred the Babul Barthakur Memorial Award for his significant work in nature conservation. The award was presented by Bimala Barthakur, wife of the late Babul Barthakur.

The Late Pabitra Gogoi and Mousumi Gogoi Memorial Award for Best Student was given to Mrigankhi Gogoi, a class ten student, by Ankita Gogoi, daughter of the late couple.
The event, held as part of the school’s annual cultural evening, paid tribute to the 100th birth anniversary of Dr. Bhupen Hazarika and remembered Zubeen Garg. The souvenir ‘Arohan’ was launched by Ranjit Bharali, Secretary of Duliajan Club, while Ajay Kumar Bhattacharjya delivered the welcome address. The programme concluded with a vote of thanks by teacher Dikshita Gogoi.
