Dhakuakhana: The 48th All Assam Padmanath Gohain Boruah Memorial One-Act-Play Competition concluded successfully at the Dhemaji Public Auditorium after a three-day programme held on November 20, 21 and 22. A total of 24 drama troupes, including six children’s groups from across Assam, participated in the prestigious cultural event.
Guwahati-based troupe Natatirtha won the title of Best Drama for its play A Beautiful Melody, while Maraha Golapar Kali by Rangarag, Guwahati, and Biral Tapaswi by Sarathi, Bokakhat, were adjudged second and third best respectively.
Montu Kumar Das (A Beautiful Melody) was awarded Best Actor, followed by Angshuman Saikia and Bhargabjyoti Kalita. Adishna Rajbongshi (Maraha Golapar Kali) won Best Actress, while Jyotishri R.U. Boishya and Jimi Borah secured second and third positions.

In the children’s category, Dhemaji’s Living Theatre won Best Children’s Drama for Sapone Bichare Ki. We Can, Machkhowa, and The Gurukul secured second and third places. Ashim Kalita and Minarbha Borgohain were named Best Child Actor and Best Child Actress, respectively.
Ronald Hussain was awarded Best Director for A Beautiful Melody. The inaugural day featured the conferment of the Padmanath Gohain Boruah Memorial Natya Bota on noted drama director Dulal Roy, followed by the release of the annual souvenir Natyapragga. The event included flag-hoisting ceremonies, sapling plantation, memorial tributes, and a lecture on Narendra Nath Gohain.
