ANATG 2015 Batch Suspends Agitation, Sets June 30 Deadline for Regularisation of 1,166 Teachers

Kohima, Feb 22: The All Nagaland Adhoc Teachers Group (ANATG) 2015 batch on February 21 resolved to suspend its ongoing agitation, while setting June 30 as the final deadline for the regularisation of services of 1,166 teachers.

The decision was taken after a marathon meeting between the Core Committee and general members of the group. During discussions, the Directorate of School Education Nagaland (DoSE) assured the teachers that steps were being initiated to review and reconcile essential documents, including appointment orders and sanctioned post numbers, which were reportedly missing from departmental records.

Principal Director Shashank Pratap Singh acknowledged the concerns raised by the teachers and admitted that the delay had caused anxiety among them. He stated that the department was treating the matter with seriousness and was working towards resolving procedural discrepancies.

The ANATG clarified that the suspension of agitation should not be interpreted as a withdrawal of its demand. The group warned that if the regularisation process is not completed by June 30, protests would resume. Members pointed out that during a previous phase of agitation, the government had assured that the process would be completed by December 2023, but the matter remains unresolved.

Emphasising the importance of regularisation for job security, service benefits and career progression, the teachers pledged to continue constructive engagement with the Directorate to ensure compliance with all procedural requirements. The members also reaffirmed their confidence in the leadership of the Core Committee and vowed to remain united.

While the Directorate has not issued a formal statement regarding the deadline set by the group, sources indicated that the government is keen to settle the issue at the earliest.
