Guwahati: The passing of Assam’s beloved singer-actor Zubeen Garg has left a profound void in the hearts of millions. Among those deeply affected is actor-turned-politician Angoorlata Deka, who shared an emotional reflection on social media on Sunday, highlighting both a personal connection and a cinematic promise fulfilled.
In her post, Angoorlata recalled their collaboration on ‘Roi Roi Binale’, Zubeen’s final film. “Roi Roi Binale… the last day of my shoot with Zubeen da, a frame filled with smiles, contentment, and gratitude. I had planned to share these photos today with joy, but what I write now is soaked in sorrow,” she wrote.
She revealed that years ago, during a heartfelt conversation, she had expressed her desire to work with Zubeen even once before her life’s end. He smiled and promised, “We’ll make something happen.” That promise eventually led to the creation of Roi Roi Binale, now standing as Zubeen’s cinematic farewell.
Reflecting on the project, she wrote, “The shooting began, dubbing was completed, and the release date was fixed. But the man who told us he would return from abroad on the 21st never came back. Everything shattered—his dreams, our dreams. I had told him I wanted to fulfill my dream before my death, but he fulfilled it before his own.”
Her words have resonated widely on social media, with fans pouring in tributes for the artist whose voice and performances shaped a generation of Assamese music and cinema.
Zubeen Garg’s legacy continues to inspire, his final work a testament to his talent and enduring impact on Assamese culture.
