The Arunachal Pradesh Congress Committee (APCC) has issued a fervent appeal to the state’s populace, urging them to fully uphold the democratic principles enshrined in the Constitution of India to ensure that the upcoming Panchayati Raj and Municipal Elections–2025 are conducted in a free, fair, transparent, and peaceful manner. The party emphasized that the constitutional right to vote, secured through universal adult franchise, is the foundational pillar of the nation’s democratic framework. Reaffirming its dedication to democracy, the APCC insisted that all eligible voters must be permitted to exercise their franchise freely, without fear or coercion, aligning with the core principle of “One Person, One Vote, One Value.” Furthermore, the Congress unit firmly opposed any form of electoral malpractice, including impersonation, proxy voting, or substitute voting, stressing that such actions directly undermine the sacred nature of the election process.
In light of the forthcoming polls, the APCC specifically called upon Municipal Election Returning Officers, District Election Officers, and the State Election Commissioner to guarantee the smooth and peaceful execution of the electoral process, thereby preventing any law and order disruptions. To safeguard both voters and the integrity of the elections, the party requested the strategic deployment of sufficient police forces, particularly at polling stations identified as sensitive or vulnerable.
Addressing all political parties, candidates, office-bearers, and their supporters, the APCC underscored the critical necessity of strictly adhering to the Model Code of Conduct, all prevailing election laws, and the directives issued by the State Election Commission and other competent authorities. The party issued a stern warning that any efforts to intimidate voters, misuse governmental machinery, or engage in inducement, coercion, threats, misinformation, or any other electoral misconduct would constitute a grave violation of constitutional and democratic norms.
The APCC highlighted the profound significance of local self-governance, noting that Panchayati Raj Institutions and Urban Local Bodies form the essential backbone of this system. It asserted that the autonomy, dignity, and credibility of these grassroots institutions must be preserved, and the elections held to determine their representatives should reflect both constitutional morality and institutional integrity. Finally, the APCC implored all stakeholders to foster an environment characterized by peace, brotherhood, restraint, and political maturity throughout the election period. It called for the complete avoidance of any poll-related violence or provocation, stressing that political disagreements must always be resolved through established democratic channels, rather than through fear, force, or intimidation. The APCC concluded by expressing its hope that these elections would not only maintain Arunachal Pradesh’s strong tradition of peaceful democratic participation but also further solidify the State’s collective commitment to the rule of law, democratic values, and constitutional governance.
