APCC Chief Demands CM’s Resignation After Supreme Court Orders CBI Probe into Contract Allotments

Itanagar, April 6: The Arunachal Pradesh Congress Committee on April 6 stepped up its attack on the state government, with party president Bosiram Siram demanding the resignation of the Chief Minister following a directive by the Supreme Court of India for a preliminary inquiry by the Central Bureau of Investigation into alleged irregularities in the allotment of public contracts.

In a statement, Siram welcomed the court’s order, calling it a significant development and alleging that it points to concerns of corruption, nepotism and misuse of power under the BJP-led government. He claimed that contracts worth over ₹1,270 crore were allegedly awarded to individuals with close familial or political links, describing it as a breach of public trust and transparency norms.

The Congress leader said the court’s intervention reinforced concerns previously raised by the party regarding alleged diversion of public resources. He also criticised the Bharatiya Janata Party, stating that such allegations run contrary to its stated position on clean governance.

Siram called for the immediate resignation of the Chief Minister on moral grounds pending the outcome of the inquiry. He further sought a free, fair and time-bound investigation, preferably under judicial monitoring, and urged strict compliance with the court’s directions, including preservation of records and full cooperation with the investigating agency.

Raising concerns over the alleged misuse of public institutions, he said such developments undermine democratic governance and accountability. He added that the Congress would intensify its outreach efforts across the state to mobilise public opinion on the issue.
