APSC Prelims to Be Set in Both English and Assamese

Guwahati: In a significant move towards inclusivity, the state government has announced that the question paper for the Assam Public Service Commission’s Combined Competitive Examination (APSC CCE) prelims will now be set in both English and Assamese.

The decision, officials said, is aimed at creating a level playing field for all civil service aspirants and eliminating any unfair advantage. Candidates who are more comfortable in Assamese will now be able to attempt the paper in their preferred language without any disadvantage.

“Our government remains committed to creating equal opportunities for every aspirant. From now on, the APSC prelims paper will be available in English as well as Assamese to support students primarily versed in the state’s mother tongue,” a government spokesperson said.

The move has been widely welcomed by student groups and educationists, who had long demanded bilingual question papers for competitive exams in the state. Many believe this reform will encourage greater participation from rural candidates and strengthen representation in the civil services.
