Itanagar, July 5: Arunachal Pradesh Chief Minister Pema Khandu on Saturday extended greetings to the Apatani community and the people of the state on the occasion of the Dree Festival, conveying his wishes for prosperity, timely rainfall and a successful agricultural season.
In a message shared on X, the Chief Minister emphasised the importance of the festival and expressed hope that the celebrations would usher in abundant harvests, peace and happiness. He said the occasion was an opportunity for people to come together in unity and devotion while praying for sufficient rainfall, protection of crops and the well-being of every household.
Khandu described Dree as a festival that reflects the Apatani community’s deep-rooted agricultural heritage and symbolises harmony with nature, collective unity and gratitude. He noted that the festival continues to preserve the community’s longstanding traditions and cultural values.
Observed every year in the Ziro Valley, the Dree Festival is one of Arunachal Pradesh’s most significant agricultural celebrations. During the festival, members of the Apatani community offer prayers seeking favourable weather conditions, the protection of crops and a prosperous harvest season.
