Arunachal CM Pema Khandu Inaugurates State Guest House-II Under Itanagar Smart City Mission

Arunachal Pradesh Chief Minister Pema Khandu on Friday inaugurated State Guest House-II in Itanagar, a redeveloped hospitality facility completed under the Itanagar Smart City Mission.

The project, executed by the Itanagar Smart City Development Corporation Limited (ISCDCL), has converted the erstwhile Hotel Donyi Polo Ashok, established in 1982, into a modern state guest house equipped with upgraded infrastructure and amenities. Ganpati Construction Company of Guwahati carried out the redevelopment work.

The newly inaugurated facility features 15 fully furnished air-conditioned rooms, a conference hall with seating for 35 people, G+1 accommodation for staff and drivers, a 250 KVA power backup system, parking for 40 vehicles, a CCTV control room and a 40,000-litre water storage facility.

Addressing the inauguration ceremony, Khandu said the guest house would enhance the state’s hospitality infrastructure by offering quality accommodation for official guests and visitors.

Urban Affairs Minister Balo Raja said the project reflected the successful transformation of an unused public asset into modern infrastructure under the Smart City Mission.

Speaking to India Today NE, ISCDCL Chief Executive Officer Dahey Sangno said the objective was to restore the abandoned Hotel Donyi Polo Ashok and convert it into a contemporary State Guest House-II while retaining its original utility.

Sangno also reviewed the progress of other Smart City initiatives in the capital, noting that the limited availability of construction materials within Arunachal Pradesh had contributed to delays in executing several projects.

Referring to the redevelopment of the Daily Market in Naharlagun, he said work on replacing the earlier G2 structure with a G4 building had delayed completion of the multi-crore project. The upgraded facility is being developed to rehabilitate vendors displaced after a devastating fire destroyed the market several years ago.
