Itanagar, April 8: Arunachal Pradesh Governor K. T. Parnaik on April 7 said that the National Institute of Mountaineering and Allied Sports (NIMAS) has the potential to gain wider national and international recognition.
During a visit to the institute’s campus in Dirang, the Governor urged officials to position the state prominently on the global mountaineering map.
He stressed the need for NIMAS to expand its outreach by attracting mountaineering enthusiasts from across the country and exploring opportunities to include international participants in expeditions.
Highlighting Arunachal Pradesh’s achievements in the field, Parnaik noted that the state has produced 16 Mount Everest summiteers, and encouraged the institute to build on this legacy by promoting adventure sports and excellence among aspiring climbers.
