Arunachal Healthcare Workers Trained on HPV Awareness and Vaccination Drive

Itanagar: A comprehensive workshop on Human Papillomavirus (HPV) and India’s Universal Immunization Programme (UIP) was held today at the Tertiary Cancer Centre, TRIHMS, and UPHC Karsingsa, targeting doctors, nursing officers, and allied healthcare professionals.

The session was led by Sharanya Shekhar, Founder of ConnectNCare, who highlighted the crucial role of healthcare workers in promoting HPV vaccination and educating the public on preventing HPV-related cancers and diseases.

Participants discussed practical strategies to reach communities, including family counseling, school outreach, and awareness campaigns at local centres, aiming to ensure that all eligible children and adolescents receive the recommended vaccines.

Presiding over the workshop, Dr. S. Tsering, State Nodal Officer (CCP), Arunachal Pradesh, emphasised the importance of preventive healthcare and stated that widespread HPV vaccination is key to reducing future cancer burden and building herd immunity.

Organized under the ConnectNCare initiative, the event concluded with a shared commitment among healthcare professionals to advance a cancer-free and healthier Arunachal Pradesh through collective action and informed advocacy.
