Nirjuli Police have recovered 11 stolen two-wheelers and arrested four persons in connection with a series of vehicle thefts reported across the Itanagar Capital Region (ICR) of Arunachal Pradesh.

The arrests were made during the investigation of Nirjuli Police Station Case No. 51/2026, registered under Sections 303(2) and 331(4) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS). Police also apprehended two children in conflict with the law for their alleged involvement in the thefts.

The arrested individuals have been identified as Monu Borah alias Durna Bora (31), Govind Nath (28), Khyoda Tako alias Pako (19), and Amit Doley (32).

According to police, the breakthrough came after an extensive investigation involving technical surveillance, intelligence gathering and coordinated field operations. Two dedicated investigation teams were constituted to trace the suspects, ultimately leading to the recovery of the stolen vehicles and the arrest of those allegedly involved in the racket.

The operation was carried out under the supervision of senior officers of the Naharlagun police subdivision.

Superintendent of Police Nyelam Nega appealed to residents to remain vigilant and ensure their vehicles are securely parked, particularly during the night. He also urged owners whose two-wheelers were reported stolen or missing in recent months to contact the Sub-Divisional Police Officer, Naharlagun, or the officer-in-charge of Nirjuli Police Station with valid ownership documents to verify and claim the recovered vehicles.

Police said the investigation is continuing to ascertain whether the accused were involved in other vehicle theft cases and to recover any additional stolen property.
