Donyi Polo Vidya Niketan (DPVN) in Pasighat, East Siang District, Arunachal Pradesh, recently hosted its National Education Day celebration, drawing reflections on the profound role of education in forging a strong nation. The ceremony saw the presence of Tai Tagak, former Advisor to the Chief Minister of Arunachal Pradesh and Patron of Arunachal Shiksha Vikas Samiti (ASVS), alongside other key educational figures. Dignitaries present, including Sukumaran K, State Coordinator of ASVS Vidya Bharati Arunachal Pradesh; Vidhya Kant Kha, State Incharge, Academic & Examinations, ASVS; and Olut Rukbo, State Coordinator, KGBV Project, ASVS, collectively paid homage to Maulana Abul Kalam Azad, India’s first Minister of Education, whose birth anniversary on November 11 is observed annually as National Education Day.
Addressing the gathering, Mr. Tagak stressed that the core function of education extends beyond securing a job, instead serving to prepare and enlighten the mind. He underscored its vital role, stating, “Education is the foundation of an empowered and equitable society. It is not just a means of career advancement but the bedrock of democracy and empowerment. A well-educated society forms the backbone of a progressive nation.” He also gave students practical advice, encouraging them to utilize SWOT analysis—evaluating strengths, weaknesses, opportunities, and threats—to effectively meet life’s challenges and navigate an increasingly complex world.
The event highlighted the 2025 theme for the day, “Inclusive Quality Education,” which reinforces India’s dedication to providing meaningful and equal learning chances to every child, irrespective of their socio-economic status. Speakers further touched upon the ongoing transformation within India’s education sector, which is being guided by the National Education Policy (NEP) 2020 and the overarching goal of achieving Viksit Bharat (Developed India). The collective vision emphasizes a commitment to value-based learning, the development of moral character, and harnessing education as a powerful engine for national advancement.
