Arunachal Pradesh Steps Up Efforts to Achieve ODF-Plus Status

Itanagar, August 22: Arunachal Pradesh Panchayati Raj and Rural Development Minister Ojing Tasing met Union Jal Shakti Minister CR Paatil in New Delhi and discussed the state’s efforts to achieve ODF-Plus status, officials said.

During the meeting on Friday, the ministers reviewed the implementation and progress of the Swachh Bharat Mission (Grameen) in Arunachal Pradesh. Tasing briefed Paatil on initiatives aimed at sustaining the state’s open-defecation-free status, improving solid and liquid waste management and maintaining cleanliness in public spaces.

Arunachal Pradesh achieved ODF status in December 2017 and is now focusing on sustainable sanitation practices, improved rural waste management and cleaner villages under the next phase of the sanitation mission.

Tasing said the state government was strengthening rural sanitation infrastructure through administrative coordination.

Paatil assured Tasing of the Centre’s full cooperation and support to help Arunachal Pradesh achieve ODF-Plus status and establish a sustainable rural sanitation system.
