Arunachal Pradesh to Double Sponsorship for Youths at NIMAS

Itanagar: The Arunachal Pradesh government has announced a significant expansion of its sponsorship program for youths at the National Institute of Mountaineering and Allied Sports (NIMAS) in Dirang. Chief Minister Pema Khandu revealed that the number of youths sponsored for training at the institute will be doubled from 200 to 400 annually.

The decision aims to provide more young people with professional adventure education and skill development opportunities at the country’s premier adventure training centre. CM Khandu emphasized that the expanded sponsorship scheme will help build a new generation of adventure professionals from Arunachal Pradesh, inspiring young people to embrace the spirit of adventure, discipline, and leadership.

Located in Dirang, West Kameng district, NIMAS operates under the Ministry of Defence and is India’s only institute providing certified training in mountaineering, aero-adventure, and aqua-adventure. The institute has played a key role in promoting adventure tourism, national expeditions, and high-altitude skill training across the country. With this increased sponsorship, more youths from Arunachal Pradesh will have the opportunity to benefit from NIMAS’ expertise and facilities.

CM Khandu’s decision reflects his vision to empower the youth of Arunachal Pradesh and promote adventure sports in the state. By providing more opportunities for young people to develop their skills and character, the government aims to create a new generation of leaders and adventure enthusiasts who will contribute to the state’s growth and development .
