Arunachal Pradesh to Host 2026 Asian Rafting Championships in Boleng, Says Pema Khandu

Itanagar, Aug 6: Arunachal Pradesh Chief Minister Pema Khandu on Thursday announced that Boleng in Siang district will host the 2026 Asian Rafting Championships from October 5 to 9, a move aimed at establishing the state as a premier destination for adventure sports and water-based tourism.

Khandu reviewed preparations for the international event during a meeting with Asian Rafting Council President Shaukat Sikand and Arunachal Pradesh Water Sports Association President Nino Dai in the presence of Sports Minister Ojing Tasing.

The Chief Minister said hosting the championship would provide Arunachal Pradesh with an opportunity to showcase its scenic rivers, adventure sports potential and warm hospitality before participants and visitors from across Asia.

Expressing confidence in the state’s ability to successfully organise the event, Khandu said the championship would significantly enhance Arunachal Pradesh’s profile as an emerging global adventure tourism destination.

He also said the international competition would help promote water sports in the state while generating economic opportunities for local communities through increased tourism and related activities.
