Arunachal Pradesh para shuttler Biri Takar produced a standout performance at the Brazil Para Badminton International 2026, clinching a gold medal in the men’s doubles event and a bronze medal in the men’s singles category.
Congratulating the athlete on his achievement, Arunachal Pradesh Chief Minister Pema Khandu said Takar’s success reflected the growing impact of the state’s Chief Minister’s Award to Champion Excellence in Sports (CM ACES) programme, under which the para shuttler has been receiving support.
The chief minister said the initiative is focused on identifying talented athletes, providing them with the resources needed to excel and helping them compete successfully at the highest level.
He added that Takar’s international triumph demonstrated how the CM ACES programme is producing champions who are bringing recognition to both Arunachal Pradesh and the country on the global sporting stage.
Takar’s double podium finish further strengthened India’s achievements in para badminton while highlighting Arunachal Pradesh’s emergence as a promising contributor to international sporting success.
