Nagaon: Assam State Electricity Board (ASEB) Football Club has emerged as the champion of the 77th All India Invitation Prize Money Independence Day Cup Football Tournament organized by Nagaon Sports Association. In the thrilling final match held at Nurul Amin Stadium late evening on Saturday last, ASEB FC defeated Sadar Hills Football Club of Manipur 15-14 in the sudden death shootout after the match ended 2-2 in regular time and 4-4 in the tiebreaker.

The Electricity Board team won the title for the fifth time, having played in the finals eight times. The match was attended by thousands of spectators and was inaugurated by Pijush Hazarika, Minister of Water Resources, Information and Public Relations, Assam. The chief guest praised the organizers and the audience for their support.
The best player award was given to Papu Deuri of ASEB FC, and the highest goal scorer award was given to Lungmingrene of Sadar Hills FC. The winning team received a trophy and a cash prize of Rs 2 lakh, while the runner-up team received Rs 1 lakh.
